    Lands End Sea-to-Shore Shoes

Anyone try these? They are only $29.50. I am looking for a decent shoe for this "recreational" rider. I have the pedal cages and I need a shoe that will slide in and out easily. My Sketchers are way too large to be safe. I know that these shoes probably won't serve the "professional" cyclist.

    Sandy -
My recommendation is don't do it. You don't need to start with high-end cycling shoes, but there are entry level shoes out there that will protect your foot better than a non-biking shoe. You at least want to stop the feeling of the pedal cage through the sole of your shoe, which a decent cycling shoe will do.

Also - if you're even contemplating switching to clipless pedals in the relatively near future, get a shoe that can accommodate that need. Mountain biking shoes to be used with recessed cleats have a piece in the sole of the shoe that you pull out when you want to attach a cleat.
