    Signs that you're an addict

How do you know you're addicting to riding your bike?

For me, I was sitting her planning my morning commute into work and just remembered that I had to go up to a northern suburb for a meeting at 9am (it's normally held on wednesdays so I'm all discombobulated). My reaction was the following:

    1) Thinks: "Awww man, I wanted to ride to work today!" Followed by general feeling of disappointment.

    2) I thought about if I had enough time to go to my meeting, drive home, then ride to the hospital. Which, is on the way home from the other place. So I'm going to drive past it, to go home and get my bike to turn around and ride into work.

#2 makes perfect sense to me.

"Northern suburb"?! You could ride to any northern suburb!

It all makes sense to me. L.

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me, too!

I'd do the same thing! In fact, I'm doing something similar this morning. Using the car - 'cause I really have to - but making sure to get back into time to take the bike to work. Love that bike!

Ways I know that I'm addicted:

    a) Went camping this week; on the ride home, we talked about what great roads they would be to bike on.

    b) My husband is commuting by bike all this summer (I have summers off - the perk of being a prof!!). He will be riding his bike to.....CYCLING CLASS

    c) Filled up my car with gas, $45 worth, and all I could thing of was the cool biking stuff I could buy with that money!!

I could probably go on and on, but those are the first that came to my mind.

Okay, I'm off to get dressed and take my youngest to the LBS to get his first BRAND NEW BIKE! He'll be all set for his first group ride this Saturday!

I know that I am addicated because after a 55 mile ride in AZ heat I am in pain, my muscles are sore, and my mouth is dry. But my husband and I are discussing our rout for tommorow.

I think I may be addicted. I just sent an email to my riding partner saying that I've been out playing much to much and that the board of health is coming to condemn my house soon.

I am totally addicted. I have had a cold for the past few days... yucky coughing stuff. All I can think about is getting rid of this cough so I can go riding again. I don't want to push it and end up off the bike longer

Not only am I addicted, but my DH is an enabler! I am going to see my family in North Dakota later this month and I was only going to stay for one week, but my husband said that if I leave a week early and help my son get to camp in Wisconsin that he would ship my bike and have it waiting for me upon my arrival. Pretty cool, now I will have nearly two weeks of riding with my brother and his family and I didn't have to beg for the bike myself. I shipped it last year and it wasn't cheap, didn't think he would agree to it again this year. Guess you gotta let them think it was their idea!

My name is Dogmama and I'm a bike-aholic

You know how drunks plan their next drink? I'm planning my next bike.

When most people retire, they plan their dream vacation. I'm vacillating between an Orbea and a custom bike....

It's a little over a year away, but it's my carrot at the end of a very long stick.
