My first road bike experience...(no i'm not becoming a roadie)

I am looking at getting a road bike one of these days but today i borrowed our Coach's extra bike. It's an extra small diamondback and here's how it went.

I joined the group who split into diff groups. Another lady & i ended up on our own (she knew the way & was happy to go a bit slower-she's a bit older too)

I rode slowly on purpose as i had to get used to the brakes being in a diff position than on a mtn bike and the gears. (all i care about when on a different type of bike is knowing how to change the gears, position and braking@!!!!)
WOW did it ever feel great to be able to zoom(or something like it) up a hill and even be in the right position. I think i averaged about 25km/hr on the flats but i noticed the odometer going up to 30km/hr as well.

I just had to remember to not go over the bumps in the road!

The bike is now in the bike shop & will be serviced on monday. My LBSG will play with the bike fit then.

NOw all i have to do is stop my dear from telling me i'm a roadie...(most of the guys we bike with ride road bikes during the week & are mtn bikers...)

    Have a funky one.

Yep...that's how it starts. You try it once...some people get hooked after only one try....then you try it again. "I'm not becoming a roadie", you tell yourself. Next thing you know, you feel the need for speed more and more...and before long...you're a roadie! But don't sweat it...you can have a road addiction to go along with your off-road one; these addictions are good for you!
    Enjoy!

yup, Popoki... she SAYS shes not becoming a roadie...

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,
    "I will try again tomorrow".

Yep...classic denial. After that first road ride, it's a slippery slope....

I had a mountain bike at one time. The hardest part of moving the move was not being able to go over the bumps, but then the down hills are much more fun on a road bike. It's the speed.
