    OT: Music

So here's my question. Is it safe, or unsafe to ride and listen to my IPod at the same time? I would never dream of doing this while commuting, but how about when out on the road? I have a mirror so I'm watching for traffic, but??? Any thoughts to help me out?

As I don't think I chimed in on the other thread:

Never never never! Even if it is not loud its still enough of a distraction to be dangerous and you need to be alert when riding - on the road or on a trail. Unless you are accustomed to being deaf, your ears are an integral part of your alertness.

Personally I think joggers/walkers shouldn't even wear them if they are on a multi use trail - on your left, on your left, ON YOUR LEFT!!!..........

I've always thought taht calling "car up!" and "car back!" stuff were as much for *me* to keep me in the "I'm riding my bike... not in my car... or on my couch... or on the hammock... or with a mouse..."
It's like doing the cell phone while driving. Somehow it really is different than the radio in the car; it feels different.
I confess if I come up behind someone and the reason they can't hear me the first time is 'cause of crap in their ears, I *will* be loud when I'm closer and yes, I hope I startle you!
