    Do it yourself Bolero/Solero

I've been lamenting the fact that the Bolero doesn't come in a light colored sun/heat friendly fabric. I want... a Solero!

Then I realized, I can make my own solero by chopping up an old lightweight technical undershirt shirt in the desired pale color, and then just stitching the edges up a little bit to keep the fabric from unravelling. It probably wouldn't be as nice as the Boleros, but for coverup sun protection on the arms I think it's worth it.

Cool idea! I wish my serger still worked...Plus, the only technical LS shir I own is my precious Jacksonville Marathon shirt. (But I think BF has one he doesn't wear...)

I don't have a serger, I was planning to just roll the edge over and do some hokey hand-stitching. I pick up technical shirts all the time for cheap at my local Goodwill, there are a lot of them out there if you know what to look for. Though, I like the idea of raiding BF's stash...

If you sew at all, a serger is _so_ worth it. You have to have both, but once you have one, you can't live without it.
