Glasses question...

Hey everyone,

I have looked in my books and on the forums.. I didn't see anything about this and thought I would throw this one out..

I am blind as a bat... without my glasses, I can't find my glasses. One time, my hubby moved my glasses...not good.

Anyway, I have not been able to find goggles that don't leak, so contacts aren't a good option. What would you all suggest? Where can I put my glasses in my transistion area that would be safe and easy to find?
I have never seen a transistion, but I imagine they are pretty wild...I shudder to think that I would lose my specs...

Come to think of it..I don't see many pics of triathletes with glasses... hmmmm

I can't answer the specific tri question, but... in the days before I had Lasik, I swam wearing my contacts - not in a tri (with swimmers all over), but in a swimming pool, doing laps. The only goggles I found that did not leak were from Barracuda. The style I used were their "standard" goggles, but it's possible that other styles would work too. Have you ever tried these?

There ARE goggles that don't leak, you just have to find the right pair for you.

However, even if they leak, it's not a problem with contacts. A friend of mine would open his eyes - with contacts - in the water. They stick there somehow!!

At my first (and only so far) triathlon my goggles which are usually quite good moved on my face and started leaking badly about halfway. I tried to rearrange them but it didn't quite cut it. Still, my contacts didn't go anywhere. So I'd give it a try. You can buy a box of disposable lenses, it's not a big investment, and if it works for you you'll discover a whole new world!!

There are several brands. Looks like they go up to a -8 diopter...

Ok, then I'd put my glasses in a Bento Box on my bike- very safe there, or in an aerobar bag- also very safe.

I've done a few tris with contacts before I had Lasik. I did find goggles that didn't leak. It's just a matter of searching for one that fits your face right.

If the tri's not too big, you can have someone watching for you to hand you your glasses as you come out of the water. That's what I would've done if I couldn't swim with the contacts. But I was so blind that it would've been impossible...I guess I could've followed the churning water...yikes. Lovin' my lasik! L.
