    my first real running workout

Not just going for a run, but an actual workout. A friend from my paddle team is a personal trainer and took second in her age group at the danskin tri last summer. she started this group to do interval training one morning a week. It was a great workout, but I remembered something important. I HATE RUNNING. But, I guess it would be hard to do a tri without it.

lol on the "hate running" comment. I injured myself last fall before my Oct. marathon, and since then I've "hated" running. I'm just now getting back into a groove with it.
Yeah, I guess doing a tri without the running would just be a du- and even duathlons have running (although USAT has some aquathlon races where you only swim and bike... hmmmm).
Glad you tried that run workout. Who knows, you may just grow to LOVE running and want to do it all the time.
Hang in there, it should surely get easier (if not physically- mentally).

    I hear ya.

For a short period, I actually began to somewhat like running. Then, I got this lower leg pain.

Now, I dread the thought of running. Actually, it scares me... I think I may never be able to run without pain again.

I am working with someone... and hopefully the leg pain will be fixed... but if it's not, my running days are over.

Hopefully you can become "one" with running!

HA! Have you seen some of those X-terra courses? They look like trail swimming to me! Actually, Nanci, X-terra tris might be right up your alley. http://www.xterraplanet.com/races/

I hate running, too. But I do it because I want to be a runner and a triathlete. Sounds funny, but it makes sense to me! L.

    Jumped the Shark

I think this thread jumped the shark at the mention of Trail Swimming!

    ****************

Jumping the shark is a metaphor that has been used by US TV critics and fans since the 1990s to denote the tipping point at which a TV series is deemed to have passed its peak. Once a show has "jumped the shark," fans sense a noticeable decline in quality or feel the show has undergone too many changes to retain its original charm.

The phrase was popularized by Jon Hein on his website jumptheshark.com. It alludes to a scene in the TV series Happy Days when the popular character Fonzie, on water skis, literally jumps over a shark.

I remember that Happy Days episode...As far as i can remember we were living overseas and it took forever for the episode to be played...Similar to living down under and being wayyyyyy behind on ER...

So, is abbie back with luka????

(The only thing i remember about 9-11 is logging onto the bbc thinking i'd find the normal whirlwind of news...OH was i wrong...thought WTF??? Turned on tv & oh...)

My gramma passed away a few weeks later.. I never had a chance to say goodbye...

This thread was about running...(Reminds me to ask our coach if our session is still on next tues am due to ANZAC day. tlkiwi are you going to the dawn service???)

I doubt it. The one here starts at 5.00am and, given that it's not a public holiday here and I'd have to have left the house by 4.00am (at least), I don't think I could make it through the work day! If I don't work, I don't get paid, so no spontaneous days off for me at present (gotta save for the summer hols).
Drink coffee and do stupid things faster with more energy.
