    1st ride with my daughter

I just had to share this with you!

My daughter (age 4) and I went for a ride together today. She was so cute on her PINK princess bike (streamers and all) and training wheels. I had just come back from an afternoon ride (during which I felt like *&%@ - I've been sick all week) and I thought this would be a nice way to cool down (it's 80F today). She's been wanting to ride "with" me. She rode a whole mile! Everytime we'd loop back around to the house, she wanted to keep going. She was going at whopping pace of 2mph. I literally rode circles around her and racked up 2.8 miles.

I completely forgot how bad I felt during my ride. She was singing and riding along, ringing her bell. It was pretty darned adorable! I think by the end that her legs couldn't go anymore and she crashed - no blood though. She got back on and rode back to the house. She might have a future in this

Oh, what a neat story! I remember a ride with my daughter. I think she was 10 or 11, her brother 2 or 3. He rode the kid seat on the back and she rode her own bike alongside. We did 34k. The next year, as I recall, she did the long route, over 50k, with her Dad. She's now planning to do the California Aids Ride with her aunt in 2007. They do grow up fast! Enjoy each moment.
Half-marathon over. Sabbatical year over. It's back to "sacking shirt and oat cakes" as they say here.
