    Crazy bike lane photos

Just when you think the European riders must have it easier for commuting...

    Too Funny!!

You see one of those here- where one minute you have a nice bike lane, the next minute, nothing!

    crazy

i don't know whether to laugh or get mad. Seeing stuff like that makes me want to kick some idiot(s) in the shins. You'd think there would be enough activism to prevent absurdities like that, but maybe not.

    Ugh! those are just horrible...

most of our bike lanes are decent... there are a few tricky ones, and many that curbs with parked cars... I'm always watching for car doors...

I have to say - proudly - that Albuquerque is starting to post "no parking in the bike lane" signs on all the streets with bike lanes. They've even designed some of the streets so there is a parking lane, a bike lane, and the driving lanes. At least for now, our Mayor is a bike commuter which is a Huge help to the bike community!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"

I saw this the other day, some cycling lanes are a bit silly round the UK as I think the local councils are supposed to create a certain number of miles of cycle lane when planning roads (don't necessarily have to be useable though).

The reason these daft lanes are in the news is that there is a potential amendment to the UK Highway Code which states that cyclists MUST use cycle lanes if they are provided. At the moment we have the legal right along with pedestrians (unlike car drivers who have to be licensed) to use the road and to make the choice whether to ride in cycle lanes. I am quite happy to use cycle lanes on some parts of my commute as they do make a difference, however these ones are on the road the fashion now seems to be "mixed use" paths which are no use to anyone (goes off on a rant )

Luckily the CTC is starting a campaign against this (http://www.ctc.org.uk/) which I am about to sign up to

    I think you're aiming a bit low...

Do some people just not THINK?

Corsair... man, how cool is that? Our mayor is the ex-chief of police... which is apparently what WE need right now... just a wee bit of corruption here in San Diego right now... Maybe someday we'll have a mayor who rides...
