Halloween Costumes

Is anyone dressing up for Halloween? I'm going to be a Valley Girl. I've got a big, pink glittery bow, hot pink with sparkles leg warmers, black high top sneakers, a black skirt with tights and a shirt with Madonna pictures all over it. Oh, and lacy gauntlets. I've been experimenting with my '80s make up.

I love getting dressed up for Halloween. I've not got plans for this year yet although I've already been to one impromtu dress-up dance party. I was a dominatrix. Maybe something I shouldn't admit online seeing as it was last minute and I had everything I needed on hand. From previous years costumes of course.

It's been ages, and I used to love making costumes. Last time DH and I went as a worm on a fish hook, and a wall plate light switch: bait and switch.

Bah Humbug. I don't like Halloween. What was once a night where kids, usually under the age of 12, went trick or treating and maybe had a party at school, has morphed into something adults celebrate.
Yeah, I've been called a fun hater. But, there's nothing about this holiday I like, at this stage of my life. I didn't mind taking my kids out to trick or treat, but the costumes were store bought.
Except the time my older son (age 8) dressed up like a girl, with a blonde wig, a long shirt of mine as a dress, and lots of eye make up. It was so convincing, it made my 5 year old cry and ask me to change his brother back into a boy.

We always dress up at work. My costume is Almira Gulch. I am commuting that day rain or shine. I've got the bike baskets, I've got the MP3 downloaded to my iPhone and I've got the little dog too

I think it's more the community, whether adults celebrate it or not. I'll always remember the subdivision we lived in when I was in middle school in the early 70s. There were lots of organized community activities, but Halloween was almost a competition between the stay-at-home moms, turning their yards, garages and sometimes parts of their homes into really elaborate haunted houses, just for the entertainment of trick-or-treaters and any accompanying parents.

My last Halloween party was in college and I went as a pregnant nun. (no offense to any nuns intended it was a wtf costume affair) I have a good friend who does special effect makeup for a studio here. She did a few of us for an organized Zombie walk, which was fun, especially as we did some clubs afterward.

We dress up at work to a theme (the whole department). Two years ago, it was zombie prom...that was fun. Last year we did 'road kill' and I was dressed as a jeep with a dead animal in the grill. This year, we are doing Duck Dynasty as our theme. I had to google it.

A few of us are all going to wear matching duck costumes while the bulk of our group will dress as the human characters from the show. I voted against it but was overruled. Oh well...it'll be fun anyway.

I LOVE Halloween. I loved it as a kid. I love it as an adult. For a few years, I dated a guy who was living in Salem, MA and wow...what a great time!! That city takes the holiday VERY seriously and we had so much fun with it each year. I missed the excitement when we lived on the farm (no trick or treaters) and we only did a couple of parties during those years. Now that we are in town again, my excitement is building! I might even dress up as a witch to answer the door....just cause it's fun! ;-)

I'm a nurse. I draw blood all day. Guess what I dress as!!! Actually, I go for the subtle look. I have theatrical fangs that attach to my eye teeth. They aren't very big. I can talk and even smile with them and they can't be seen. I love going into the lobby and getting a patient then as I walk them to my lab I turn around to the family and smile really big. The gasps are totally worth it. Then I send the patient out with two red dots on their neck.

Note: I only do this to my well known and easy going patients/families. If I have a new or sensitive patient I keep the fangs completely under wraps.
