A few of you have expressed an interest in volunteering for DMD so you can cheer me on. (I'll need it, especially in the evening!)
Here's the website where you can read what's involved.

Veronica, did you volunteer at Knoxville, too? I know the same folks put it on. That was a VERY well-run ride. I'm sure DMD will be as well.
I checked you in at Lake Berryessa on Knoxville.![]()

No WAY. Wild. Very cool! Well, you probably didn't notice, but I was the one who almost got all the way over the guard rail and back onto the road with someone else's bike when I was done at that stop. No reason why I was spacey - I actually was having a great day. I just didn't look at the bike I grabbed. Blonde moment. Well, you run a great rest stop!
That was a great ride. One of my friends crashed out early on and ended up working the ride and then doing the volunteer version of the ride and the Quack folks were terrific to her. I don't know that she would have finished without their support. Have you done the ride or do you maybe plan to do it (or the volunteer ride) this year? It's a great route.
The first year I volunteered for it, I was in no shape to do the volunteer ride. Last year, I thought about doing it, but Thom had no interest in SAGging. I like to hang with him on the weekend. Imagine that, so I didn't do it. If I can stay fit through the summer, I'd like to do the staff ride.
I have big plans for the summer - ride and swim lots!

Sounds like a good summer plan!
Well, by the time you have trained for Solvang and DMD and whatever else you are planning (I forget the other doubles you may be doing), you might as well throw in the staff ride for Knoxville because it is a good course and not too terribly hard. Then you could get your triple crown!
200 miles is not easy (not that I'm an expert, but I think that almost goes without saying!), but there's enough variety in Knoxville's terrain to make it pleasant at least. Not too much sustained climbing, lots of climbing broken up with rollers, etc. Knoxville Road is a bit creepy - very desolate. Reminded me a bit of Mines Rd., but with hunters.
