Why do people think they are entitled to know things?

A teacher gets placed on administrative leave and a parent thinks they deserve to be told why. And then malign the principal when the reason does hit the papers because he didn't tell her? Are people really that stupid that they don't understand confidentiality?

Yes. I have to re-explain that concept quite frequently to people, as my new career takes it very seriously.
I saw your original post; of course, the media will play this situation if someone else (like someone who knows the real chronology of what happened) doesn't speak up.
Does your district have a media spokesperson? Generally there is a point person for issues like this. No one else should be talking to the media, except that person.
And, our state law is written the same way (based on what you said in your deleted post).

negative coverage gets more advertisers. Teachers, school and school administrators are on the hit list of things, "bad" (along with all public service sector jobs).

I'll refrain from going into politics. But this is what it is today.

Sorry to hear of the frustration. I wish we could all change the tone of things.
