Red face 35th Anniversary Bike ride

My younger son decided to drive down from Canada to help me celebrate today, the 35th anniversary of my marriage. We decided if weather was agreeable or at least not too DISagreeable, we would ride. IT was rather chilly and kept spitting rain, so as long as we kept moving we were ok, that lovely sun from yesterday never evidenced itself.

So my older son and his GF, one of my bike friends, younger son and I all met at Gasworks park without a plan. We assumed my friend knew some routes (he was next to useless!!) so we sort of just rode around and DID have fun and DID end up getting where we wanted to go, just not the exact way we planned.
My younger son was wearing my husband's Ramrod jersey, a pair of his bike shorts, his raincoat, and an old pair of his gloves. My older son was riding my husband's Raleigh, wearing one of his Ibex teeshirts and wearing another pair of his shorts AND his SIDI bike shoes, my son's GF was wearing one of Donald's helmets and one of his Jerseys, and I was wearing one of Donald's Ibex teeshirts too. So he was totally well represented.

we probably broke the record for bathroom stops, but we got 20 miles in and a good time was had by all.

It's suddenly really dusty in here. *sniffles* Yes, dust. That's what it is.

Thank you for sharing that, Mimi. It sounds like you and your entourage made the day very special.

    35th Anniversary Bike ride

What a lovely way to celebrate and commemorate. Glad you had such a great ride, it is too bad the weather turned, yesterday was just filled with incredible spring sunshine!

Awwww - Mimi! Thank you for sharing Sounds like a wonderful day - and I'm so glad you have your family and friends there with you. Heck - I'd have ridden in solidarity with you from the east coast (but I was out hiking....).

You need to write a book!

Sniff, sniff - it's dusty in here too - that's it

Awesome! Celebrating the milestones like this is a good practice. For four years now, March 1st has been designated Lemon Meringue Pie Day by my family and friends (the date is my brother's birthday, and the pie was his favorite). We all go out and get (or make) pies, and eat a slice in his honor.

I'm sure Donald was looking down on all of you and smiling. The celebration sounds wonderful, despite the rain.

That's so nice that your kids are using his gear. I got one of my dad's harmonicas when he died, but I haven't learned to play it, yet. I like these kinds of tributes. It's easy to remember the good times when you're eating pie (or ice cream in my case), or riding a bike.
