I'd say it's a good deal *if* the bike is as described. I'm surprised at the comment that the chainring would be shot at that mileage (unless regular maintenance wasn't done). Have it checked mechanically, and then go for it - if it's a good fit! I bought mine off ebay

Yummy! +1 to check it out mechanically and see if it fits, and go for it if it's all good.

I'm guessing the person meant "chain" and accidentally typed "ring" afterward, considering they said that replacement would run $100 P&L - chainrings alone would cost that, nevermind the cassette.
