    Today's ride

Here's where the road ended in Palm Beach. Did 80 miles solo. It was very meditative and I kept my own pace, which was really nice, especially when the wind kicked up during the three rain storms I encountered. I hate crosswinds. To think that only a few months ago i was dying after three miles. I'm going to be 52 in a couple weeks and am doing a solo century to mark that occasion. I'm surprised how good I feel after today's ride, so am looking forward to giving that a go.

Beautiful spot! I'm doing a century that ends someplace up in WPB too - it goes up A1A - I wonder if that's where it will end! Hope so, it's gorgeous! Good luck with your ride!

Well, that's the end of the road, so maybe. From where are you starting? Are you going up and back? I know A1A from Ft. Lauderdale to Palm Beach a little too well (it's almost the only road I ride), and can probably tell you.

I met some interesting cyclists on the road: two guys and a woman, who had left West Boca at 4AM to do 120 miles as part of their training for Ironman Panama. I also met a club that rode up from Hialeah. When they got to the pier, they all jumped in the water, and I took pics for them. They were having a blast. They also had a big ole truck pick them and all their bikes up, as well as bring food. I got in on the free food.

    Pretty, even the rain clouds.

I sympathize with the cross winds. Ick.

It's muggy from May to November here. Today, at least, it was overcast, so it felt like a reprieve with the sun not beating down on you. I did a metric century charity ride last Sunday and it was brutal hot. I had to stop at mile 50 for a bit and cool down. I'd stopped sweating and had goose bumps. Not good. I know some people around here start out at 4AM when riding distances (80+) to avoid the sun/heat.
