But I'm registered for my first sprint tri in June. The week before, I'm registered for a half-marathon. I want to do both. The question is how to combine the training plans.
I ran 7 halfs in 4 months this year, so the distance is not new. I'm a slow and steady runner. I would drop this half except that I'm trying to keep a streak - run it every year. I don't care if I end up walking half or 3/4ths of it. I think it's a 4 hour time limit, and if it takes 4 hours, so be it. That said, I'd still like to be somewhat trained.
Clearly, the cross-training I will be getting in Tri training will help with the half training. But I don't want to shirk on the tri training. I'm thinking that I should follow a sprint Tri plan, maybe make some of the mid-week runs longer if it feels good, and then make sure to get in one long run a week, working up to 10 miles?
I'm open to suggestions though, and also to tips on sprint tri plans.
Thanks!
