Today I rode up to an overlook on Payette Lake. I'm very happy with this bike!

WOW, what a great looking bike, and that setting is a killer.
We haven't done any riding up that way yet but it is on the to do list.
That bike is going to kick butt on some single track. If it's anything like my Lush you will love it more everytime you ride it.
It is soooo pretty.
Nice! Both the bike and the setting!

I think I'm going to try the ski hill chair lift assisted trails next. Irulan, have you done that? Where do you like to ride up here?
Ride4fun, I went to Bear Basin on Tuesday, nice variety of trails.

I love that...I wonder if I'll ever have the guts to ride anywhere where a full-suspension bike would be necessary. Way cool!![]()

Having read any number of threads on this general subject and as it relates to Indiana, I tend to think that opinions vary quite a bit as to what kind of bike is preferred for a given area. If your trails are anything like the trails in Indiana, FS has it's advantages, and I see plenty of them on our trails. Bike preference also depends on the rider, too, and not just the trails.

True. I just see very few FS bikes amongst my circle of friends or at local races. In some spots fat bikes almost make the most sense, since we live on a giant sand dune and frequently have snow cover almost 5 months of the year (one friend actually has a Mukluk that she converts to a HT 29er for Summer). We don't really have rocks right in our immediate area. The people who have FS seem to be the ones who do a good deal of traveling to ride outside our close region.

Here's a discussion specific to Michigan on FS bikes. Keep in mind that I'm off work today and just have some time to kill. I have no ax to grind on this issue; really!I just think the MMBA discussion itself is interesting in how many POVs are represented. I like the sentiment that if the bike you have makes you want to ride, then it's the right bike for you.
I do tend to think that 29ers seem like a really good compromise for many to the extent they roll over obstacles better--or at least it's alleged--than a HT 26er. I remind my husband of this every time he starts pining away for a FS bike. Of course, then he gives me the "Well, I'll just get a FS 29er." In reality, he just likes bike. The more the better.![]()

I've ridden Loon Lake/Ruby Meadows in both directions :-), east fork of the lake fork, duck lake/20 mile, the backside and lift serve at brundage. I haven't been on the Bear Basin system yet, as I haven't been to McCall this summer. Brundage's system is fun. It has the best "green" trail out there. Elk trail is seven miles of easy fun buff single track that is suitable for rippers to trailabikes.

I've done Loon Lake, but years ago on my old mtn bike. Also 20 Mile and Hard Creek. I can't wait to try Elk Trail; I've heard you can get a $5 discount ticket at the local stores.
Don't worry, anybody, about hijacking because it's all great information, gleaned from someone's train of thought!

Sigh...makes me miss my home state and regret that I didn't get into the outdoors and biking until I moved to Houston. Idaho has some beautiful country!
