Anyone use iPhone as your computer?

Finally, finally got my new bike after ordering it in January! Now trying to decide if I want the Garmin 500 or if I should just mount my iPhone with the Lifeproof case and bike mount and use a bike app on my phone as a computer. Thoughts?

The onboard battery won't last for a ride of much length when it's using gps; you'll need to have a case that includes additional battery power.
I'd rather be swimming...biking...running...and eating cheesecake...

Battery life *may* depend on the app. MapMyRide just sucks the life out of my phone, so I stopped using it. However, I've noticed that RunKeeper is not so bad, at least out on 1-2 hour workouts, and it does have a bicycle option. Haven't tried it longer than 1-2 hours, though.

Cyclemeter is only $3, I've liked it so far. I haven't taken in on long rides yet, and I don't look at is as I'm biking (I turn it on and throw it in my pocket). Why not try that first before a more expensive option?
