    Shoe Covers

I wish I could find a shoe cover for winter that has a rubberized bottom that you can cut a hole in to make a place for your cleat. I am using a pair that are Performance brand like this that are the best thing I have ever worn so far as warmth. They aren't mine and I can't keep them. Does anyone know if anything like this exists any longer?

I'm not sure why you should have to enlarge the cleat hole - I use Look, which I think are the largest cleats out there, and I've never tried on a pair of booties that the hole wasn't already large enough for my cleats.

Every pair I've owned has also had a hole in the heel area to expose my shoes' walking tread. So the bootie is never in contact with the ground while walking. No need for any special sole - it just has to be tough enough to survive the pulling and tugging when you put them on and take them off.

Lots of brands make neoprene booties. Just google. TE has a couple of neoprene ones and some others that look pretty warm too. http://www.teamestrogen.com/search.e...relevance-desc

My Pearl Izumi shoe covers have a rubber bottom with a sufficiently large opening to accommodate my Shimano Ultegra SPD-SL cleats. I also have Pearl Izumi toe covers with the same rubber bottom and large opening that I use when the temps are a bit milder. I've had both the toe and shoe covers for several years and the rubber bottoms have not deteriorated at all, despite all the use.

The ones I mentioned are actually almost like an over shoe. The bottom is intended to be cut to make a space for your cleat. They are cool because they cover your whole shoe so your nice Sidi's stay nice and clean :-) They are very thermal too, has thermal fleece and neoprene both.

Like time trailling socks? You stretch them over your shoes and cut them for the cleat?

DH had some made from knitted yarn (De Feet) and soon wore a hole in the toe from unclipping and balancing on his foot at stops. Came to the conclusion that the fabric ones are for TT only.

I wonder if diving booties might work?

I just bought a pair of these this fall...haven't had cold enough temps to try them out yet (strange November...). They have a pre-cut hole for your cleat but are fairly thick neoprene with a rubber toe-kick (not the whole sole). Maybe they're close to what you're looking for?

I don't know...I still say that the Pearl Izumi shoe covers that I've been using would fit the bill for what you are looking for. They cover my entire shoe and go up past my ankles, are water-resistant, have a rubber bottom with a large opening for cleats that do not need to be cut any further, have a velcro closure in the back (some covers have a zipper closure), and keep my feet plenty warm.
