    training tapering?

    Hello!
I am 6 days away from my first-ever road cycling event, 150 miles in 2 days. I feel like I have trained fairly well, but am unsure what to do this week. I want to do one more middle-distance (40ish miles) ride tomorrow morning, but don't know what to do after that. Short rides? Gym workouts? Another long ride? Rest until the event? What do you all do? Thanks!

You would be fine not riding at all or riding at a casual pace short to medium distances. I'd hold off on heavy gym workouts (if you mean weightlifting, etc.) - stick to easy work, stretching. Another long ride will not bring you any more fitness or endurance than you have built through your training and could deplete your reserves such that your event is not as much fun as it could be.

    Enjoy the taper!!

I believe is a good idea doing that 40ish ride and the rest of the week just doing short easy rides with some short intensity, if you stop riding the whole week your body will get tight. For me taper is decreasing volume (time on bike) but continue with intensity so the body is ready for the stress of the event. Good luck
