I did do a search and quite a few topics came up that really did not answer my concern.

I'm new to cycling but I want to start with the correct equipment and not find out later I should have bought something else.

I'm looking for an entry level Cyclometer that is wireless. I want to keep track of my miles so I can see my motivation coming.

Where do I shop and which one is a recommended model. even if this question has been asked as long as this forum has been open..

Any bike shop, Performance or REI (they have online stores too!), or other online bike supply places (like Nashbar, etc) should have them.

Cateye makes a variety of wireless models with a range of prices, and some of them are pretty highly rated. I have a Serfas one, which I don't particularly care for because it's far too easy to reset and prone to interference. Well, all wireless computers are prone to magnetic interference. Just the nature of the beast.

I have the same thing on both my bikes: Specialized Speedzone Sport. It's a basic, easy to operate computer and I've been happy with it. Haven't used much else so can't offer comparisons.

My spouse has the wired version of this computer and his also has cadence. I don't care about cadence, but I do care about mostly my distance and speed (average and maximum), time, etc. It is very reasonable to set up and I haven't had problems. I was able to buy the small parts kit which allows me to move it easily between my two bikes.

I have the Cateye Strada wireless that also calculates cadence. I love it and have never had an issue with it interfering with other devices, like my HRM. The cadence I don't really look at any more but it was nice when I was a beginner and trying to get a good feel for the speed of my pedals.

I've had really good results with anything by Cateye. They're not the cheapest, but they last forever. Their customer service is very good as well.

I have two Cateye Strada Wireless computers and a Strada Double Wireless, which includes cadence. I like having cadence for trainer workouts and its sometimes a nice distraction on grueling climbs or windy stretches.

This is in fact the very computer that's probably going to go on my next bike. I'm not going through the trouble of moving my current one!
