    Biggest pet peeve

So the "significant other" thread got me thinking that I really enjoy these share about yourself threads, so I'll ask another question...what is your biggest pet peeve? What one (or few) thing that other people do that drives you up the wall and makes you want to scream?

Oops. I asked the question but didn't post mine.
It's people who lie. I don't care if it's my students lying to get out of doing something, a politician lying to get elected, or grown adults who claim not to have been on Facebook when you can see that they've posted other things during the period of time they claimed to be gone. A lie is a lie and when I catch you, it chips away at my trust in you. Not to mention that most people are very bad at it and it's very easy to tell they're spinning tales!

    Honestly, and don't judge me...

bad grammar. I hate it. HATE it. More so in a professional environment. I can't stand it. I grammatically correct everything I read. Most of the time, it's laziness. Don't be lazy.

LOL...how about when it's the person you're with who won't stop talking? Ugh...

But we could start a whole thread just on movie misbehavior!

*People who crinkle cellophane during the quiet parts of the film
*People who bring the stinkiest food they can find into the theater

Me too. I had a patient (a male that was in his late 80s) tell me once that his Dad told him "you always have to remember a lie but never the truth".

I thought that was a very wise statement.

    I have a few:

open mouth chewers - this makes me almost go postal, it's SO GROSS!!

when people wear flip flops and drag their feet on the ground - pick up your heels!!

when people don't use their turning signals - it's as if they're the only ones on the road or they expect you to read their minds. And similar to this one, I hate it when police patrol cars don't bother signalling - how can they enforce regulations if they themselves won't??

dog owners who don't pick up after their dogs - gives responsible dog owners a bad rep.

People who sing in the restroom stalls and/or talk on the phone in the stalls. Really? You can't wait 2 minutes to have that conversation?

I agree with kajero about the putting on hold to answer another call...whose brain fart was it to invent call waiting anyway? It is also a distraction to have the beeping when somebody else calls and you're already in a conversation. As for an "original" pet peeve of mine, it bugs me when I am checking out at the store and the person behind me moves up so he/she is super close. It's like they're worried about losing their spot in line or something, and I hate being crowded like that. I always feel like turning around and telling the person to back up, but the one time I said something the person got all huffy and acted like I was the one doing something wrong (to be fair, I was probably a little snarky in how I said it).

My daughter and I have exactly the same pet peeve. She has it because she and her brothers were trained out of it by me throwing strikes and refusing to cook. I still have it because I cannot get my husband to understand how annoying it is. The peeve is this- dirty dishes left on top of and not in the dishwasher.

DH will even rinse out his dirty dishes but cannot be bothered to bend over to stick it in the dishwasher. Maybe he believes in spontaneous transportation. The secondary peeve is that he usually leaves dirty dishes and empty cans or bottles next to where he sits. He is slowly learning to pick up after himself since I refuse to pick them up but at the same time there is a certain resentment on my part because I tend to police the house before I go to bed but since he stays up later than me I usually find stuff lying around in the morning. Aside from checking to make sure that there is nothing for the cats and dogs to eat, I leave them alone, but it puts a sour note on the day. I have tried to talk to him about how much it bugs me but he is under so much pressure at work.... I think his retirement in two years will mean a whole learning curve for him and I both.

Almost spewed coffee all over my monitor. That's a good one!!!

DH is a private investigator. He has found a single blonde hair on a yellow carpet. But he cannot see the socks in the middle of the floor.
