On the reviews of shorts, many women refer to sausage leg?? What in the world is that?

ummmm an term for shorts that unflatteringly squeeze your legs so that they look like sausages in super tight casings... generally the leg gripper band is so tight that it bites into your leg and causes a sausage like bulge on either side...

I'm starting to come to the conclusion that I can't wear any of the shorts with the wide, compressive leg bands -- not even if I go up a size (then they are too big through the waist and hips). I have yet to find a single pair with the wide leg bands that doesn't give me horrible sausage legs. I seem to carry a lot of fat in my inner-thigh area. Even when I was running track in HS and weighed 120#s I would get wretched "chub rub," as this was the days before Body Glide or Sport Shield. When I wear shorts with the snug leg bands (with or without grippers) I end up with big blobs of inner-thigh pudge that tend to cause shorts to wear-out FAST. So many manufacturers are starting to put these bands on cycling shorts and it's limiting the styles I can wear. I really liked the PI PRO In-R-Cool shorts, but after just 2 rides in a pair had already worn a small hole into one thigh.

Doesn't that inner thigh pudge just drive you nuts? Even when I was down to a size 2 my thighs still rub. I have to wear undershorts with skirts because otherwise I get such a rub rash I'm miserable for days!

oh yes, the chub rub...
Even when I was thinner I still had it. Awful. I now wear shorts without leg grippers and no more sausage leg. Thank gawd- it was getting out of control!![]()

The Elite In-R-Cool shorts doesn't have this, at least the Bib shorts do not. TE sent back all of the PI PRO In-R-Cool bibs for this reason. You might want to try in the Elite version of the shorts to see if the same difference is found there. You may have already done this...
The thing is...I bought the shorts for the PRO chamois. I have several pair of Elite shorts that don't cause sausage leg (the Symphony and Symphony Cut have worked for me), but I've been wanting a better chamois for centuries and longer distances. I am having one heck of a time finding a chamois that works AND is built into a short that doesn't give me fits. It's getting expensive and I'm not having much luck. I really would love to find a company to offer multiple chamois and multiple shorts so that one could put together a custom combo. I'd pay extra for that!
