    Right Thumb issues

    Hi All,

I've had this annoying pain in my right thumb for several months now. I felt it the most when i change push to change my gears on the right side. It feels something like its overextended or something. Its between the knuckle and middle joint? Anyone know what it is or what to do about it? I cant even crack my thumb anymore

I had some issue with a tendon in my left thumb for a while last year. My thumb was sore on the side opposite the palm, at the base of the thumb. It seems it was some sort of irritation. It was really bad for about a week: my thumb seemed to lock up, with a lot of pain. It eventually subsided. I did go to my PCP, she ordered an X ray to rule out problems like a bone fracture or arthritis. Ibuprofen, gently massaging it with Tiger balm, and avoiding overextensions (as when you hold a heavy bowl on your hand) helped.

You haven't been riding the mechanical bull at the local bars on Friday nights, have you? That's a common injury. I'd get an X-ray.

You need to rule out potential problems.
