You know you are addicted to cycling when you decide to head out to ride for an hour even though you know it will make you late for church....because there will be wind-gusts of 45 mph that afternoon and the wind cut short yesterday's ride.

We battled the wind yesterday anyway. Enjoy your ride this morning, Catrin. It's pretty calm right now but that's gonna change later. Smart of you to get it in this morning. Just slip in the back and maybe no one will notice you were late!

mixedbabygreens My blog, which really isn't all about the bike.
I am currently debating the same thing myself. Supposed to be very windy here later today. But I am on-call with the hospital right now until 8 a.m. Monday. Do I risk it? Decisions, decisions.
Nice hour-long rideshort, but better than nothing! I DID hit my country roads yesterday, but could only tolerate the winds for 27 minutes of so - AVERAGE heart rate was 145 and even got an upset stomach! Rested a few minutes and took my bike back to the "beautiful treadmill" that has great wind breaks (a local nature-preserve park) and got in another 45 minutes or so.
WestTexas - I can't advise - but I am sure that you will make the best decision.
Did something similar here-- I almost always bike to church (it's only 1.5 miles away). With the winds pretty mild in the morning but predicted to really pick up in the afternoon, I took a long, scenic route to church (not all that long, just 7 miles or so). And then I had strong tailwinds pushing me home after church.
But now the winds aren't all that bad after all, and I'm thinking of a little trip out on the bike path.
