Not Bad... This Could Be a Good Year!

I haven't ridden my bike outside since Sept. 19. We got busy on weekends painting the house, the weather turned crummy, we were traveling... lots of reasons why. And quite honestly I think some time off every now and then is good.

Yesterday was a gorgeous day - sunny and 70s. We decided we would take the bikes out and just mosey on up Diablo to the Junction - 6.5 miles, 2200 feet of climbing. My fastest time ever up this is 48:17. Yesterday, just moseying, not really pushing at all, was 52:18. Not bad. I'm pretty thrilled with where my fitness is right now and I'm five weeks out from actually starting my HIM training program.

Now, I have been running a lot (for me) and doing a spin video once a week. And of course I've been working with my trainer and I'm about two pounds lighter. I'm working at getting my body fat even lower. I'm just under 20% now and I'd like to get that down to about 16.5%. I'm hopeful that this could be a really good year for me.

Fingers crossed that I stay injury-free.

I definitely agree with this - even if it is time when you still ride, but just don't "care" or have any concrete goals. Or if it's time you "have" to take off because of injury or illness. Every time I have taken time off for reasons like this, the next year has been a breakthrough year for me.

Glad you're having fun on the bike again!
