New at clipless pedals, and cheating!

OK, so 20 years ago when I rode and tried clipless pedals on my road bike I never got used to them. I think I even had some muscle fatigue just from tension I would feel due to having my feet clipped in and always trying to be ready to get them unclipped if I needed to. On some occasions I just clipped in my right foot and not the left--is that a nervous Nellie or what? Now I have 4 rides on my new Shimano A530 spd pedals and am having a great time, but I'm cheating. These pedals are on our tandem and I'm finding that not worrying about totally powering the bike by yourself and not worrying about taking your eyes off the road if you need to look down to clip in while your learning is just great. Who knows when I'll put these on my single bike, but I'm finding that the A530 is EXTREMELY easy to get out of. I have a few problems finding just the right spot to clip in but that's newbie awkwardness that will probably go away soon.

Cheating, or learning? Sounds like training yourself to clip in and out in a place that's comfortable for you can only help you eventually do it on your own bike.

Nah, you're not cheating. Keep it up!
