    Wooden bike

A friend just forwarded the link to a note about a Renovo wooden bike featured in Wired:

Looks very pretty. How about some marquetry work...

What a beauty. This reminds me of a Sunday ride, like those who own classic cars and take them out only on nice weather days.

Recently, my DH was lobbying hard for me to get a Renovo Pandurban commuter bike, when I was in the market for a new commuter. Sweet looking ride. He was very hot for it.
Alas, I went ti and not laminated bamboo!

There was an interesting article in the December issue of Bicycling that touched on bamboo bikes. "The stiffness is good, vibration dampening is superior to carbon, and the frames are more resistant to cash damage than people think." It then proceeded to say that "the downside is cost and weight."
