Running to Turkey 11/15-End of November

Figured I would just be honest and say that this thread will probably go for two weeks

I had an awesome trail race Saturday! 15K, and I love this race. This is the third year I have done it. I finished in 1:19:45, which is a huge huge pr for me. DH won the whole race!! So fun! I have some pics up on my blog, and I am still a little tired and sore......

    Any good weekend stories?

My 50K is now less than 4 weeks away. So scary!
Slow and steady (like a train!)

Congrats! I'll have to check out your blog. I love trail races. Someday I hope to do a trail marathon.

5 miles for me last night. I have about 3 months of conditioning runs with no speed work, so I'm working on my form. I've been reading ChiRunning and applying what I'm learning from the book. Last night it was starting to click and I felt like I was flying with the new form. But afterwards my hips were a little wonky--I think because I'm not used to rotating them so much. Today they feel fine, it will just take a little getting used to.

My running plan said to run 22 this weekend as my last long run, but after careful consideration of many factors, I decided to start tapering this weekend instead. Last year this time I got sick, which seriously dampened my race, and I'm sure part of it was that the long run compromised my immune system to get whatever was going around the office. There are a TON of people sick at work and my dad is getting over what was probably the (real) flu, I don't need something to push me over the edge. Also, only 1 long run of taper seemed a little short to me, I'd like to see if an additional week means I have a little more energy. This might be the last dedicated marathon I run for a while, with Ironman CdA in June and Florida in early November I won't be able to run one between April and December.

So, long story short, I ran 12 instead, and since it was 40 and overcast I took my dog the whole way. She's tired today.

I have decided it's better for me to not run in the Bikila, at least for this distance. It's possible if I sized down 1 size they might fit better on the bottom of my foot (though that doesn't solve how they squash the top of my foot), and I think maybe they work better (for me) for shorter/faster distances. I will be repairing my KSOs and running in them for the next 2 weeks to make sure it's the right call, but they never hurt my feet or wore into them like the Bikila do. Also bought a pair of Flows that I might try running in to see if they are comfy enough. They might just end up being wet/snowy running and winter everyday shoes if they aren't quite the right fit. By the end of this week I will have 4 pairs of FiveFingers in 4 different sizes.

I ran a whopping 24 minutes today But I decided to sign up for a turkey trot - I think I can do it, even though I almost always run trails and those are all roads.

Did the local Monday night 5K in 25:08. Not my best time, despite the fact that I actually ran the whole thing without stopping to walk once (as I have often tended to do--bad trail runner's habit). Is that backwards, or what? The pace I was running was comfortable which was good, but you'd think I'd have a better time instead of worse if I ran the whole time.

Had to knock out my 6 miler really early today so that I can get everything done at work. Super busy conference time means tired and busy me!

I have a huge week training wise next week, and I am getting nervous about the whole ordeal!
