    Question what the ****?

Okay, my sister and I were on a road trip (auto) and talking about various things. She works for an insurance company. She handles phone calls for insurance coverage, pre-authorizations, coverage, etc. She told me she gets quite a few phone calls from women cyclists that need labia reconstruction. I was nieve for a second so she explained to me that these women are needing to tighten the opening of their vaginas. I'm sure she knows what she's talking about. What I want to know is how common is this? Is it avoidable? I love my bike, but this sounds horrid!!!

tell her to refer them over to their LBS for a proper saddle and bike fit. I've never hoid of the issue or had any problem with that.

That question was a little difficult for me to put out there. It's not something anybody wants to talk about, let alone have it happen. I'm glad you've never even "hoid" about it before. Maybe there's a lot more involved than just a bicycle in the cases that my sister deals with. I might just have to get the balls to ask my LBS about this, and make sure I'm on the right saddle also!!!

Maybe they had the condition already and are trying to blame it on the bike? I hear it's a popular cosmetic surgery, in fact, there was just an episode about it on the Second Season of Nip/Tuck I am watching :-)

I've worked for a health insurance company for about 13 years and I have not seen a claim for this or heard a call about it. I've seen it on the plastic surgery shows though and I wonder if its not like Nanci says where someone has seen a tv program about it and wants to see if they can get the surgery paid for as a non cosmetic condition. As a cyclist I personally wouldnt get too worked up about it though.........
