    non-peanut butter

my co-worker brought in a jar of "peanut" butter made of soy. It was surprisingly good; it looked, smelled, and pretty much tasted like peanut butter. I know there's another one made with peas, anyone try them? any good?

I haven't tried those but I do love almond butter. I like natural types (like at trader joe's or marathana) and I really like barney butter (crunchy)

Haven't tried the soy or the peas, but I'm a big fan of almond butter + raspberry jelly sandwiches.

sadly I don't like almond butter. It just doesn't taste right to me for some reason. Cashew butter's a bit better, but I still prefer peanut butter over both of them.

What's pumpkin or sunflower butter like?

I just can't imagine anything tasting anywhere near as perfect as real peanut butter. Though I just came upstairs from eating the "monster cookie" ice cream by archer farms/target, which is a peanut butter ice cream with stuff in it, and was thinking to myself how amazing foods with peanut butter are

If I ever have a kid with a peanut allergy I don't know how I could deal.

I love almond butter, either raw or toasted. I'm not a big fan of sunflower butter, but some people really like it. Tahini - also raw or toasted - I think is best homemade, though I've never been able to get it to flow without adding a little extra sesame oil.

I love peanut butter - it is a comfort food

I have tried almond butter and sunflower butter - did not care for either of them. Have not tried cashew butter, will need to try that.

I am allergic to peanuts; hated the smell as a kid, started eating peanut butter in my early thirties, and developed the allergy in my mid thirties. I can be around it, touch it, with no ill effects, but can't eat it.
I didn't like any of the other "butters" until I found Simple soy nut butter. I saw a story about it on a local news show (it's made here in MA). It tastes pretty close to the real thing, although I sort of forget what peanut butter tastes like. I am finally able to bring a smooshed soy nut butter and jelly sandwich on long rides.
