    Quad and Hamstrong Tendinitis

Finally saw my dr. today after Knotted lit a fire under me over the weekend. Thankfully he does not think it is my back He said that the symptoms of referred pain are not there. Also, what I thought was my hip flexors are not - they are the tendons that attach the quads at the top of my leg.

So, he says I have tendinitis in both quad and hamstring on the same leg, and that the only way to get this healed quickly is to head to physical therapy. He did not see a need for x-rays of hip or back as of yet unless something else comes up during physical therapy.

At least I can still cycle and spin...albeit gently

The exam was interesting, he is a D.O. and was doing all kinds of things to my leg and hip and so forth. I really didn't know what to make of it though when he started hitting the bottom of my foot Apparently I passed the test though

    Good, you finally went!

I'll call TE tonight and arrange your giftcard. Please PM me your real name and address.

(he was hitting the bottom of your foot to check for short-circuited reflexes)

ETA: and no, I'm NOT giving a TE gift card to every TE'er who goes to the doctor! Catrin is it! The rest of you just have to get there on your own!

Glad you went and glad it's not your back. Did you doc refer you to a PT? I'm going to one that's downtown (at Illinois and Ohio), which is convenient. I see them Wednesday for the first time. I can let you know what I think.

My insurance is at Westview Hospital - which is an osteopathic hospital as you know. The PT department is in the same building as my fitness club, so it is quite convenient. I am limited to where my insurance will pay - but I understand they have a pretty good group there.

I am glad it isn't my back either - OR my hip. At first he was more concerned about my hip I think.

Catrin, I'm so happy that you got checked out and got a diagnosis for something you can "fix". I know it has been stressing you so much to be uncertain, and hurting and losing out on the activity you love. Good luck with the PT!

I just have to NOT start obsessing about how this happened... Like I told someone the other day - I would rather get aches and pains over being active than deal with the consequences of being sedentary

On a positive note, my A1C test is actually 5.3!!!!! My hard work has really paid off at driving back the Type 2 diabetes spector I may not be able to do the brevet that I wanted to do for my 51st birthday, but this is a pretty good present in its place

Actually, I think she should give YOU a gift card, since you've been so patient in helping her with this and several other things (saddle, etc).

Has anyone had both kinds of tendonitis (quad and hamstring) at the same time? I know everyone is different of course, just curious if you had physical therapy and how long it took to recover from it. I know that tendonitis of any kind can be a bear to heal if it isn't treated right - and sometimes even then.

I am very glad that it turned out to not be my back - but ya know - tendonitis in one place would have been enough At least my doc said I could ride if I was very easy about it and kept it short - but don't know what the PT may advise when I see him Monday...

It is probably good that I move next week, there won't be time for much this weekend outside of packing...

Ya know, I shouldn't be surprised I suppose - I DID go from being a sloth to riding like a wild woman in something like 5 months or so

I've never seen it in my career, but "never say never."

Really? Just my luck then, I've never done anything halfway!
