    Running this week: Sept 20-26

Switching running modes now that the 1/2 is over. Running will be strictly for cross-training for a my "A" mountain bike race in November. I'm planning a combination of hill repeats, trail running (must become one with the singletrack), and maintenance miles.

    Today:
    Three Bears Hill Repeats
I call it that for 2 reasons: 1) Three hills that dead-end at Bear Lake and 2) one is steep and short, the next is moderately steep and moderately short, the last one is not as steep and almost 1/4 mile long. It's a mile to the first hill and about .75 miles between hills. 4 repeats on each.

It ended up being a 47 minute run and I hit all the aerobic levels. It was an enjoyable, challenging, and scenic route.

I too have switched over to fal trail running, except nobody told mother nature to turn off the heat!

Most of the fun trails close by are off limits in the summer because of the ticks, chiggers and heat. I am pushing my luck with the bugs this early, but I just can't wait to be in the woods.

Now that my tri season is over, I am back in the gym working on strength, trail running, and just playing on my mt bike.

I am sore from lifting, so the trail running has been tough, but that is ok. It is a different kind of sore from endurance training sore!

So yesterday was about 50 mins.

7 Miles Wednesday, and I felt decent (though I don't have much speed back yet!).
Slow and steady (like a train!)

    Eh...

Intervals on Monday (10 x 1 minute sprints), then 10 miles on Tuesday slightly quicker than long run pace.

I'm kinda sore today after back-to-back strength and aerobics classes last night. Plus I'm doing a mushroom hike tomorrow instead of riding - plus it's hot and really windy today, but supposed to cool off - so I'm going to defer my long run until Sunday or Monday. That'll be my last long run before race day. Three weeks to go...

Probably a tempo run this afternoon.

    still waiting for fall....

We've hit 90 degrees every day this week-- yuck... but the cold front's approaching right now and it might finally feel like fall by morning.

Tuesday I had a great tempo run-- stayed just under 9 m/mile for 6 miles, and it felt easy. Since then I've been struggling with a cold, so I'm taking it easy. Instead of my scheduled 12 miles this morning, it was a very slow 3. Just hoping I'll be breathing better soon!

So I have not been posting, but have been reading the posts & doing my runs.1/2 is in Nov, my pace is still too slow to PR. Oh well. I did 9 miles today. Pace not stellar, but longest run since Feb marathon. Short post since I am actually viewing/posting on my phone.
