    Cycling Mascots

I went on two tours this summer and took my bear "Rosie." She was my cycling mascot. Here is her story:

    Rosie The Bear
This is Rosie. (“The” is her middle name and “Bear” her last.) She has been my bear for a long time – much longer than I have been a cyclist in fact. When we planned our first tour from Massachusetts to Maine and back, Rosie insisted that she get to come along. So, on the back of the rack she was strapped with a cargo net and a seat belt. Rosie provides much needed comic relief. It is good that she does SOMETHING productive, as she does NO pedaling at all. Once when we had put a bag with a banana in it on her lap, Rosie kicked it out. She has quite a sense of humor. Once I was sitting inside a café and my bike was parked outside where I could see it. Rosie was on the back and a woman came over and shook her hand. I was not even there. Rosie The Bear is quite a character.

Does anyone else have a cycling mascot?

I don't have a mascot, but now I wish I did! I was very tickled by Rosie's story.

Awww. Do you think drivers are nicer when Rosie the Bear is with you?

I've been looking for a mascot for years, something found on the side of the road. But seeing your friend reminds me talking Pee-Wee Herman and most of his friends are living in my basement. Pterri would probably enjoy a bike-a-tourus! Maybe I'll look for one of the action figures to be my mascot.
