The joy of finding new trails...

Have you ever ridden the same trail a gazzillion times and out of the blue you come across a new path or trail you never new existed. That happened to me today and I was thrilled to find two new sections of single track. Now the old, doesn't seem so old anymore and I plan to go back because i didn't get the chance to ride the whole thing. Love it!

That happens all the time when I bike..

    Yesterday as I ventured down a road I noticed a trail in a valley & thought..ah i see...Then as I stopped for a tree watering break, i saw another bit o trail & thought..ahah...

I'll go and scout them out in a couple of weeks..

That's what I love about Mountain biking... always discovering something new, and overcoming a new obstacle along the trail that you thought you could not conquer. Great for the mind and soul as well. A very intellectual sport.

I came from road riding and I love the mountain biking a trail you have ridden 100 times can seem new. You might finally make an obstacle, really clean something, climb like never before, it is so fun. Of course road riding can be mental but not nearly as much as mountain biking, I love that. You tell yourself you can do something and you can!

I live in Central Phoenix, and there is a mountain preserve right thru the city .5 miles from my house. It has so many side trails and crazy loops - but nothing is better than after a Monsoon - the trails are completely washed out and you have completely new challenges! What a work out - were not talking brown dirt trails here, were talking marbles and river rocks! Some of the names of the trails are Ski Slope, Dirty Girl, Double Whammy, Disneyland...you get the pic!

Ack, I hate gravel and small rocks! Of course it isn't something I see a lot of so it hard to get comfortable.
