Triple Loop Davis Ride - Sunday, Sept 18

Calling all the northern California members! Come introduce yourself!

Updating the news on this ride I'd originally planned to help the newbies take a next step and generally have a good time. "No drop" is the motto for the day but with 3 lengths and one little hill to choose from one and all should find some fun. I really hope we can get more local riders out that we haven't met before.

    The Loops
    1) Winters and back (@34 miles) and I'm guessing a pace below 14 mph - Have 1 newbie coming that I know of. I'm planning to lead.

    2) To Winters around Lake Solano (@43-50 miles) and a pace of 14-15 mph or so -- Have 1 rider bumping up her distance. I think Petunia is leading but she seems to have dates mix-up issues so I'm waiting to hear.

    3) To Winters and over Cantelow (maybe 56-60 miles) - Pace 15-16 mph and maybe faster. Need to confirm a leader and sweep or even if anyone is interested.

Ready to ride at 9 AM
Meet at Common Grounds Coffee House in south Davis

Post ride meal at Dos Coyotes.

Any volunteers? I'm hoping Yellow and Killer Bea are coming but Yellow is packing! Boo-hoo!

PS - This ride will also be posted at www.amiciveloci.org if you have non-TE friends who are interested.

Sadiekate - this sounds like fun. Wish I could make it but my husband (terribly inconsiderate of him) is going overseas with work for a month. Exit husband exit baby sitter. Im going to be hard pressed to get many rides in this next month I fear but thats life I guess.

Hope I can make it to a ride one day and get to meet some of you inspiring girls.

I keep telling him "you know your job is interfering with my riding."

He said he will let the USAF know.

    Great, Melody! A new face!

Pace to me means the speed we'll probably travel out on the open country roads - not the average speed from start to finish -- but this is a total guesstimate on my part. We are a friendly group and absolutely no one gets dropped.

All 3 groups will ride together through town/campus before we hit the open country so you can always change which group you want to ride with. Who knows, we may all stick together all the way to Winters before breaking apart. It was nice of the transportation planners to give us so many convenient road options.

I'm sore....but it felt so good to push a bit. and in fact, I am beginning to feel better already.

You folks, SadieKate, Melody, BikerZ,Yellow, Bikegoddess all ROCK!

'specially BikerZ who came to SF to get me! and SadieKate who rode with me!

Nice group today! Shadon and I had a lovely ramble through the orchards and I think she'll be buying a zippy road bike any day now. Yellow and Z spun around the lake and did what I do so many days -- trained their posteriors to sit for hours on the saddle. Welcome to my world of the flatlands.

The rest of the group, including Melody and Nancy, rode the said flatlands out to the area's one and only "hill," a 1 mile 8.3% grade. I think this was Melody's big "next step" and she rode 59 miles and about a 1,000 ft of climbing. Good job!

    That was so fun!

I had a really great time riding with Sue, and then back into town chatting with Shadon and SadieKate. Melody and I rode out to Winters together, and I really enjoyed hearing about the local agriculture and landscape. She blew me away - we rode along there at a pretty zippy clip (for me) and THEN she took off and rode the extra distance AND hills - awesome!

The whole group was a lot of fun - I feel really fortunate to to get to ride with such experienced riders who are so patient and willing to share their expertise with a newbie! A million gracias to Sarah and Bubba for taking such good care of us and hosting such a fun day!

I'm sorry I missed the fun! I didn't see this thread until too late. Oh, just as well....I had homework to do from night classes. Goofed off Saturday...couldn't really goof off Sunday, too (well, I could've.....but...)

Sounds like everyone had a blast!

I too had fun That Tim guy was the fast one in our group. He did Cantilew, the steep hill, 3 times one side, 1 time the other side. I watched him as he danced up the hill the 1st time. Little squirrel that guy- fast and fun!

I spent some time riding with Killer Bea- so I got to know her a little better. Sorry I didn't get to talk with Sue (Yellow) since this is her last ride with the group. YOU will be missed! I'll bet you'll love the snow in Utah! It's supposed to be 1st class!

I'm not a flatland rider either, so I was glad to get back to our cars. And, Sadie Kate really is the "hostess with the mostest"! Thank you so much for organizing this and being so patient. You are the BEST the BEST!

Thanks to Bubba, too. He was so great to bring up the rear!

RE Ed- yep, a fast guy! Must be that altitude where he lives!

Anyway, it was a great opportunity to connect with you all and to meet some new faces!
