    Wink Ode to My 30X27

I composed this short ode today after yet another bout of (friendly) abuse from my hammer-head (male) friends that seem to think that low gears/triples somehow make me less of a cyclist. Now this is all in fun, so no one get all huffy about it!

I live in very hilly/mountainous country and can't get less than about 1500' elev gain on any ride over about 15 miles. So yeah, I have a triple. And I'm damn glad I do!

    ODE TO MY 30X27
    By yellow

    I’m proud to say
    And have it be
    That a 30X27
Is the 17% gear for me.

    True, it is a triple
    And true, yours is not
But however you may slam me
I still beat you to the top.

“Yeah, but you have a triple”
You say, meaning “you are a cheat”
But I really can’t help it
If you choose to mash your legs to raw meat.

    And while I’m spinning
    I can carry a tune
And chat with my other 30X27 friends
While you pant like a goon.

For my body is much happier
    Especially my knees
You can push those big gears
    If that’s what you please.

    But when we’re 70
And you can’t walk half a mile
My knees will be as fine
    As my mile-wide smile.

Great poem! You should make it into a poster, and frame it!

My thoughts exactly - reading material for the hammer-head-types yellow drops on the hills.
Drink coffee and do stupid things faster with more energy.

As it should be read. Glad he approves. I realize it's not quite technically correct, but heck, my right brain is mightily underdeveloped!

You need to put it to music! I'm humming (in my tone deaf way) a chrous right now:

For my body is much happier
    Especially my knees
You can push those big gears
    If that’s what you please.
