    Is there anything better?

Than a fresh homegrown thick sliced tomato sandwich on good bread with nothing but mayo, salt and pepper?

bought fresh tomatoes this morning at Farmer's Market. No mayo will ever touch them, just some salt and pepper.

the BEST tomato I ever had was when I was 16 and visiting my grandparents. From their garden my grandmother picked off a softball sized tomato, and it was SOOOO good, we actually had it for breakfast. Nothing store bought even compares to it. Just tomato, maybe cracked black pepper. Definitely no mayo.

Best peach I ever had in my life was during that trip, too. Again, softball sized, and oh-so juicy and sweet.

I also love tomato sandwiches with mayo. Tastes like summer. I don't grow my own anymore, but I get beautiful tomatoes from a farmer who sets up a stand on the side of the road, with a little old lady and her young great grand daughter working. Buying my veggies from them makes me happy. It's like going back in time.

It reminds me of what we lived on at the beach.

Mmmm, I'd have to put some bacon on that.

We have tomatoes coming out our ears. They are so good.... I will miss them in the fall

I had three tomatoes with some sea salt for dinner last night, and someone asked me: where was the mayo, white bread and bacon???

    Hold the mayo.

As for sweet corn, it's grow your own or nuthin' (and mine's ready for dinner tonight ). The sugars start turning into starch the minute it's picked.

My dad used to eat them with mayo too. I'll take them that way or with just S&P. Thank goodness for foods from South America! I wouldn't want to live with out really nice 'maters, 'taters and chilis!

OMG how can you not love hummus?

Chickpea, fava, black bean, white bean, you really don't like any kind?

What a deprived life you must have!
