Anybody else doing the Cycle the Wave ride, or has anybody done it in the past? I'm going to do the 40 mile (it's not my year for long rides, I guess) and I'm curious what it's like.

I have done the first two Cycle the WAVE rides; I will not miss this year's third annual Cycle the WAVE ride for anything. I've done the Burly Girl rides (62 miles) both times and hope to continue with this course. It's a great ride with great support, excellent food stops, and a big party at the end.![]()
I did the 40 miler last year---it's got some rollers. It's work but not HARD, if you see what I mean. I'll be doing it again this year. I wouldn't miss this ride for anything either; it's a total hoot and for a great cause.

Yes, it's a great ride. Excellent support, lots of fun, great cause. Got bigger and more organized between year one and two, which was excellent. You should be able to run a search and read past ride reports.
I might fly down for this one -- my brother just moved to Seattle and I have yet to visit him!

I did the burly girl and loved it--although, I would say that the first 25 miles, which are the girly girl course, are not what I would call "girly" at all. Like Salsa said, it's work, but not so hard you'll die...

One of the best rides in the area...and a great reason to ride. Don't miss it.

I'm planning on doing the Burly girl this year for the first time. My impression is that it's a little hillier than the other routes because it includes Tiger Mountain, but doesn't look as hilly as a lot of other organized rides in the area. It's supposed to be more fun than competitive. If anyone wants to get together and do Tiger Mountain prior, I'm down. For those who haven't done it, the climb is maybe 2 miles and at the steepest part gets up around 9-11% incline. It's right down the street from my house so I don't have many excuses to not do it regularly.
Last year I did the girly girl on my hybrid bike, and it was my first organized ride ever. I thought it was harder than I was expecting with the rolling hills, but I wasn't riding as much then, and again, I was on a hybrid instead of road bike, which I think makes a big difference. However, there were people there doing it that hadn't done any training and did fine. I'm trying to get my coworkers to do it, and they ride on mountain bikes.
I'm also a city ambassador for this event, so I've been doing some advertising in the Renton area. If any of you want or know of places to put posters, flyers, and business cards let me know (it can be outside of Renton). Also, I have coupons to give away to the purple cafe and wine bar, and Barrio restaurants for 10% off. I haven't been able to find people to give them to, so let me know if you're interested. Also, if you work for Starbucks, you can get $25.00 off of the registration free, let me know and I'll get you the information you need for that. Please help me pass on the word about this event!!
Thanks,
Jessica

Darn... after reading all your excitement about this one I thought about driving over, but it turns out it's the same day as the Trek women tri. I will conveniently be in Seattle and even not far away, but I won't be done in time to get over to the start line of the ride from the tri. It sounds really awesome, and a great cause.
Also, that jersey design is awesome!!
I think i'm doing this ride too. It WAS a lot of fun and beautiful too.
