    confirmed diagnosis

So 6 1/2 weeks after my crash I have finally confirmed what I suspected all along.
I have a fractured scaphoid and a fractured trapezium. I got the results from the MRI today
Which means essentially that I have at least 4 more weeks off of the bike.
I had signed up to do a century in September. I am really disappointed that I will not be able to train and I have been going crazy not being able to ride.

So sorry to hear that. At least with a confirmed diagnosis you know where to go from here, hopefully?

I'm sorry this has dragged on so long but I'm glad you finally got a confirmed diagnosis.

Still, it's good to know what's going on.

Not that it's much consolation, but can you ride a stationary bike to at least keep in some sort of condition? If you can do that, you ought to be fine for your century (especially if it's late in September?).

Oh, too bad! What's the prognosis and treatment plan?

I have an old lifecycle at home that I do ride at times to at least keep my legs moving. It really is nothing like riding the road bike though, but at least it is something I can do.

I am in a spica splint for 4 more weeks then I go back to ortho for xrays again to see how it is coming along. I am very surprised that he didn't cast me yesterday, since he said it needs to be immobile to heal. (I'm not complaining since we had a heat index of 104 yesterday)

Oh, wow. At least now you know what you are dealing with. Speedy healing!
