    Suggestion - bikes in signature?

Inspired by a question in another thread I have a suggestion, may have been up before:

    - how about if we note down our bikes and saddles, at least the ones we use the most, in our signature? Voluntary, of course. I've done it now, just to try it out.

There are lots of questions about which saddles people like, and doing this would make it easy at a glance to see who uses what. Plus it's fun to see what kind of bike someone rides, especially if it's identical to your own.

This has been done with kayaks and paddles on a kayak forum I frequent, and it does give a slightly more coherent impression of the poster and his or her main interests. There we can also note height and weight, but that isn't as relevant for biking.

PS. There is a 300 character limit on the signatures, so one can't get too wordy. I had to edit mine a bit to fit, to give an idea of how much 300 characters is.

Good idea. I think there should also be a STICKY about saddles, either in the Open Topic-cycling or in the New Riders section. It would be nice to have one source for new people to go to for info before asking the same questions as have been asked many times before. The Sticky would not take place of the Search function, but it would provide some information common to most of the saddle sensitivity threads. Then folks would have more of an understanding of how to narrow their search.

I like this! Tulip's idea about the new sticky is a good one as well, it would be very helpful.

There are 2 entire subforums for this, in the gear and apparel forums.

It seems like most people go to the Open Topic (Cycling) or New Riders, ask their questions without going to the Gear and Apparel. I'm fine with my gear and apparel, so I'm not looking for answers. But there seem to be a whole lotta the same questions being asked, mainly in New Riders and Open Topic (Cycling).

I suppose we could redirect the questions to the existing subforum stickies and hope for the best.

I try to move the threads to the appropriate subforums when I see them, but I'm not in Open Topics regularly.

I like the idea. I've seen it used on photography boards as well with camera equipment.

    Testing mine here.

Great idea. I've only listed my main bike, as it's really the only one I ride anymore.

OK, I added it. Apparently there is no model name on my mountain bike and I honestly cannot remember which one it is. I had to go out and look on the bike; that should tell you how often I go mountain biking... sigh.
