There's a race coming up in a few weeks. The "Sport" class races 15 miles while the "Expert's" race 25. I really want to do the 25 mile distance, but I am a "Sport" level rider.
Is it okay to sign up for Expert?

Is the race USA Cycling sanctioned? If yes, you need to have an Expert designation on your license. If NOT, you can go ahead and sign up for the Expert category.

Thanks SheFly.
I was seriously considering racing Expert for the distance. But since it is my very first mountain bike race, I thought it best to stay with Sport. Maybe the next one I'll ride up![]()
You're welcome! And keep in mind that depending on the course, the longer distances can be daunting! In one race I did last year, it was the difference between a 1.5 - 2 hour and a 3:40 race (yes, I raced Expert, 'cause that's what it says on my license). DH almost sent out the hounds at that one to look for me!
Good luck, and do let us know how that first race goes!
