    Adjusting How long?

I am wondering how long it takes for the body to adjust to doing all three sports? I am not very far into this, only a week and a half which is hardly anything by what everyone here does.

I am not doing bricks at all. I have thought about them but they have not happened yet. All I am trying to do is either run, bike, or swim everyday.

I took Saturday off. Then I ran 1.5 miles on Sunday, then moutain biked for 1.25 hours Monday. Today my body said don't do anything so I didn't. I actually took a nap for an hour! I have not done that in a long time.

    Thank you for your help.

Of course it all depends on what your base is. I have always been fit and it took me 2 years to really improve and be strong. I am not sure what 'being used to it means' but after two years I could do a sprint on a Friday and an Olympic on a Sunday, and actually recover on the Saturday in between. I did two sports a day from the very beginning, even if it was only 20 minutes doing the second one. After one year I recovered fairly quickly.

Thanks Tribogota for some insight into all of this. It has been a bit of a quandray not having any basis for comparison. I'm sure my base could be better but that is part of the plan to just be in generally better shape overall without being "bored" doing one sport only.

    I'll just keep plugging away.

    Thankyou,

Just stick with it, and listen to your body. It always takes time to adapt to something new, you'll need to ease into it and remember to take time off as you need it. It'll take you a little while (a few weeks I'd say?) to adapt at first, and it'll probably take you through this year for it to not feel "weird" or overwhelmed by it - but there will always be times you are. Just try to make your best effort to get your workouts in.

    Good luck!

Thankyou for your responses. I have looked at various training plans and have sort of tried to adapt myself to them so I have something to follow. As far as actual goals are concerned...working out seems to the main one for me right now. Hope that isn't to bad. Your right, taking a day or two off on the whole scheme of things is not bad. I do not want injuries or things like that.

I do not want to push myself for X time in any sport. I am trying to make this "something fun". Someday, I will be back at work, probably sitting in an office chair, so I am trying to take advantage of my "freetime" right now. Nothing like getting into better shape right? If I end up with a pattern now,I would think it would be easier to do once the "work" schedule comes back. Well, I am working...around the house and helping DH with our landscaping business. So I am not sitting around the house eating bon-bons and watching a lot of TV.

If I feel like it and have the desire, I think I might attempt a Sprint distance. I sure do not want to try to kill myself with an Ironman. The other thing I am watching is where I am running. I have stuck to a local track and I am exploring and finding new places to go run that are on dirt. That part makes them all exciting. When I run all I think about is Urlea and Maggie how good they are. I might never get there but I am trying to think small steps and enjoyment are first everything else becomes "icing on the cake."

I am going to do a 5K trail race in August though. I think I could do that farily well.

Thankyou for your support and encouragement
