Okay, DH and I went on a lovely ride on the American River Bike Trail for the first time. This was also my longest ride of 42 miles and first ride with clipless pedals. Now the next firsts are not so great...
About 6 miles in to the ride we stopped because we took a wrong turn, DH was leading the way and I just followed... I forgot to unclip one foot and fell over after coming to a complete stopSo needles to say I also had my first crash and my first case of road rash all in the same ride!
I was pretty proud of my self for getting back on and finishing the ride... My leg and shoulder hurt like hell but ohwell! Won't forget to unclip both feet next time!

Sounds like quite an eventful ride!
Kudos on going clipless, I get so paranoid about "getting stuck" that I don't even use toe clips and straps.

Way to go Melody......
I ride that trail at least once a week, 20-30 miles depending on when I have to work. The Sacramento Bike Hikers also use the trail.

Maybe I will see you out there! DH and his best friend have been planning some different rides along the trail. I think that we will probably start riding there once a week, on the weekends. We start out in Folsom right across from the outlets and ride to Sac State and back. So it was a long ride for me.
Anyway we should get together and ride someday... Let me know if you will be out on a weekend and I can meet you all.

and congrats on your ride - sounds like it was beautiful ride!Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand, strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming: "Yeah Baby! What a Ride!"
