    Down I went....

Sorry, but I really need to vent, because my husband is out on a ride this moment and I am not with him.
If it isn't the hot weather keeping me in, it is my clutzy ways..... Unable to ride for a few days now.
Two days ago I was walking onto the field where my husband was going to play softball, and I was NOT looking down at the ground, but out at the field to see who was out there for practice, and before I knew it... I was down on my left knee! All my weight smacked down on the thing. There was a deep tire indent in the dirt and I fell in and then down I went. Dang it!! so now I have this huge bloody hole (yes, pun intended) in my knee to match. Swollen, bruised and scrapes, with a big hole. Just frick'n grand!! The first thing came out my mouth, F*#@ me (x2)!!!! Cycling will out for a few days now!!!".
Think I got the dirt out all the way. It hurts inside my knee a bit so I am having to take it easy. Why, oh why??!! Just when I had been getting in a few more rides lately, and wanted to start riding to work again and now this.
Realize it could have been a worse accident, but I am feeling depressed. Top of that, just got my new K-Sword handlebars installed a day prior to falling and only got to ride them once so far.
Learned a lesson though.... to look more carefully to where I am stepping
    Had to vent

so sorry to hear!!!! what is worse is that it wasn't even a bike injury

i am back from a sprained ankle and wouldn't you know a group ride fiasco...(story to be told on another thread not to invade on your venting )

i was told just yesterday to keep road rash moist in order for the scab not to rip and separate when bending the knee...just thought i'd share in case it related to your case to make the pedalling more comfy when you get back on!

here is to a speedy recovery!!!

oh! I'm sorry Breez, that must hurt.

Good luck with the wounded knee. When I cut mine after a 37 km/h meeting with the pavement about mid-July I tried my best to keep it moist but no bandage would stay put in that area. Anyway after a while I just told myself "The hell with it" and started riding again even if it meant that I'd have a bit of a bigger scar. I'll never be a top model anyway...

Good luck with yours!!! You'll be back on the bike in no time.

Damn!! The worst thing about an injury is not being able to ride! You're so bummed out and a great ride would cheer you up but... NOOOOOO!

Sorry to hear about your non-bike-related fall that's keeping you off your bike. Just be glad that it's a minor injury and that you'll be riding again soon!

ah man... what a bummer... I do stuff like that too... I'm so active doing so many things that there's always something messed up...

hope the knee is feeling better soon...

AutumnBreeze - if you have a hole in your knee, you might have a puncture wound, not just a cut. Its important to keep those draining, if you dont they can abcess and get very ugly. Also if you have ANY pain inside the joint itself, get thee butt to a doctor. I had a puncture wound in my right knee a few years ago that got into the joint and got infected, I was down for a month and it was hell.

Hope your back on your wheels soon.

    Thank you all!!!

Thank you, It does stink that it is not a bike related fall, yet thankful that it wasn't cause that could mean injury to my sweet ride, that would bum me more to have it hurt too. Anyway, I really appreciate the advice and will take it. I am concerned about the puncture part more then the scar issues. I do have some pain, but don't know what part in there is making me cringe and grind my teeth every so often. Don't know if it is the joint or not.

Sorry to hear of the fall. I'd ride as soon as the swelling is down.
