    Austin Plane Crash

This one exit from my office. When I took off early today I saw the smoldering building. The only time I ever remember feeling so shocked and helpless was looking at the fallen Aggie Bonfire. Just the thought of someone doing this and it being an American is scary and just mind boggling. Is this reaching the national news?

There isn't much one can do about controlling/preventing somone with a beef at the building I work in or company I work for decides to point a plane my way but I am glad to be on the safety team for the building planning evacuation drills all that nerdy stuff. At least we have an emergency plan

Wow-that's very sad and bizarre. I saw it on the news when I got home. I wish he'd only taken his own life, but it appears that one employee is missing. My DH worked at a post office that had a fatal shooting. I get taking your own life if you're miserable- but not taking others with you.

    So sad...

They also said he blew up his house and it put neighbors at risk because they are 60 foot lots. What a loser this guy was, I don't feel sorry for whatever mental problems he had there is always a better solution. And the local AM news radio had excerpts from the guy's website, he was seriously in a dark place. I feel sorry for the people that were there and the wife and child he left behind who have to be tied to this sick act. I hope since they won't have money for home insurance or life insurance the community can at least help get them some therapy, they are already offering it to those who saw the crash.

News is reported two bodies recovered but no indication of whether it was just him and the one missing employee. We knew from the time we saw the crash it was the IRS or FBI building, we were sure before they said it this wasn't an accident. I am still just horrified, somewhat angry and shocked.

I work in a building, for a company that is not very popular around these parts - according so some it's our fault the city flooded due to Hurricane Katrina. Anyway, my office sits on top of the Mississippi River levee, and has been shot at - there is nothing between the street and the building but the industrial belt railroad. Most of us have considered that if someone really wanted to do damage, they'd stop a train and blow that up, as I see chemical cars roll past on a daily basis. Sometimes it's real comforting to have an office window on the city side of the building next to the railroad.

Prayers to the family of the saddened man in Austin. He's left them homeless, and the national memory that he was deeply disturbed. And prayers for the innocent victims of his deeds, may their wounds heal quickly.
    Beth
