    Arnica for bruises

Someone suggested this awhile back (I forget who). I tried it on my elbow – it had a close personal encounter with a sharp rock yesterday. It hurt like crazy all yesterday. I put the arnica cream on it before I went to bed. This morning it is all swollen. It should hurt at least as bad if not worse than it did. No pain. None whatsoever. This is really weird.

    Amazed and grateful,

I was skeptical about it as well but have been using it for several years, with great results.

While I was out riding in September, A rottweiler t-boned me, causing me to take a nasty spill (low speed, thank goodness). I was very badly bruised pretty much all over, particularly my legs. I bruise easily, regardless, so this mishap make me look like I survived several rounds with Laila Ali! ;-) In addition to the topical gel, I took the little pills. Worked like a champ, particularly in reducing the pain. The bruises faded fairly quickly.

This is good to know. Someone has been singing the praises of Arnica to me for a few years now and I've never been quite sure about it. Sounds like I should get some as I am sure some bruises are going to be part of the "learning-how-to-ride-a-bicycle" process...

I've been using Arnica topically for bruises and sore muscles for years and I'm very pleased with it. I have not taken it internally (you can buy the little homeopathic vials) but my mother swears by it that way, too.

I too, have had fairly good success with Arnica gel for bruising. I bruise very easily (probably deficient in something), so even a slight bump into something will likely cause an ugly bruise on me. The Arnica gel does fade them quicker than if I don't use it.

I still can't get over how quickly my elbow has healed. I smacked it good on that rock! It is only 2 days later and I can hardly tell.
