Starting up riding again, losing weight now.

I'm so proud of myself !!! I have been cautiously riding my bike again, usually once every couple of weeks with my girlfriend, but last Sunday we rode a section of the mountain where we live, and it felt so good I had to go out again solo yesterday. Rode Cavedale road, steep, stunning vistas, quaint and quiet. Anybody here in the CA BayArea know that ride? Anyway, the point is, is that I rode a killer difficult ride for my present ability, and I feel very confident as a result. I've got 40 pounds to lose, and I'm going to hike and ride it off, off, off ... from now through 2010 . Seems like nothing works better to melt the pounds off than 2+ hour difficult rides.
