    Winter Helmet

Anyone use one of these for commuting? I use a wool hat under a slightly-too-large otherwise helmet. I've been looking at one at Sierra.

No, my helmet (Giro Monza) is plenty large enough to accomodate a thin wool helmet cap underneath.

I can get a cap under my helmet, but it's a PITA readjusting the straps and the circumference adjusters all the time in changeable weather.

I know some people wear shower caps over their helmets. It sure looks goofy, but it would eliminate the size issue...

That's very creative, but this might look a little better:

    Winter helmet

Depending on the weather and temps, I will either wear a skull cap or a balaclava with varying materials... wool, fleece, or lycra. I do have an orange helmet cover for this time of year when the hunters are sharing our woods.

I passed up the helmet. Good sale but I'm saving for a bike. My cobbled together helmet/had solution seems to be working for me this far. Besides, I'm partial to wool and I think the "winter liner" is probably a poly blend.

Hrrrmphh... http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodSU_99904U.html ??? TE actually carries 3 different helmet covers.

Seriously, a buff (thin doesn't take up much room) and I can pull it down over my ears. Keeps me OK until just below 50. Then I toss on the helmet cover to keep the wind down and double up the buff over the ears.

I tried a thin wool tuk, but my helmet is just a little too small with it and I ended up with a pressure headache. So I'm back to buffs and the shower cap...I mean helmet cover.

Or this morning, somehow I managed to drop my cap on the way to the car, and didn't notice it until I was at the Y where we ride from.

It was only about 38° and all I had in the car was an old plastic shopping bag.

Under the helmet, it wasn't too conspicuous...
