Wow- wouldn't that be wonderful? In a city known for traffic nightmares and with little room to play "safely" (without traffic), I think it's a brilliant idea! Might help more with community building (meeting neighbors, talking, getting out). I hope it comes to fruition and works out!

Ah, self-centered LA.The article makes no mention of how this has successfully been rolled out in SFO, NYC, PDX and other US cities. As if it is their great idea to bring this from Bogota.
That said, I think it would be a HUGE win for LA to do it too!
Yeah, I was going to ask: hasn't this been done in NYC? Well, great! I think it's fantastic!
ciclovia!!! yay! We do this in Seattle, Bicycle sundays, I LOVE IT

We have an un-official club that meets in Downtown Miami once a month and does a 15 mile group ride down the main street. It's called Critical Mass and is made up of just about anyone and everyone that rides a bike. The City of Miami chief of police actually joins in on his mountain bike. The group literally takes over the street and cars have to patiently wait their turn. No major road rage incidents yet...
